CE Primary School

Stoke Bruerne, Class 1

Welcome to Class 1 – Autumn Term 2!

This half-term, our Class 1 children are continuing their exciting learning journey with plenty of creativity, curiosity, and discovery!

In Key Stage 1, we’ll explore the story The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark in English, using it to inspire writing about characters and settings. In Maths, Year 1 will work on positional language and numbers to 20 while Year 2 tackle multiplication, division, and measurement. Our Science topic, Microhabitats, will help us learn about the tiny creatures that live all around us.

We’ll explore the UK in Geography, study Incarnation in RE, and develop gymnastics skills in PE. In Computing, children will create and debug simple algorithms, while in Art and Music, they’ll experiment with colour, texture, and sound inspired by stories and celebrations. Through PSHE, we’ll think about rules, fairness, and working together as good citizens.

In Early Years, our Reception children will be busy developing communication, independence, and physical skills through play and exploration. We’ll celebrate Nursery Rhyme Week, explore the natural world and local community, and enjoy the magic of the Christmas Nativity.

Through art, music, and story, children will express themselves creatively, while in Maths and Literacy they’ll explore numbers to 5, shapes, time, phonics, and early writing.

It’s going to be a wonderful term full of imagination, learning, and festive fun!

Warm regards,
The Class 1 Team
