CE Primary School

Gayton Class 3, Mr Mcloughlin

Welcome to Class 3

Mr McLoughlin teaches Year 4, 5 and 6 in his focused, vibrant and resourceful class.  The children work very independently and have every opportunity to develop as an individual who is confident, intelligent, polite and well-rounded.

The children work in a very collaborative manner, whilst exploring a deep and varied curriculum. The children thrive and learn from each other throughout the year, with many opportunities for every child to show their creative, unique side.

What's going on?

Welcome back to everyone after the Summer holidays!  This term is a busy but fun term with lots of things to look forward to; Harvest, a trip to the Think Tank, a visit to a Mosque and Christmas celebrations are just a handful!

Our topic is called ‘Adventurers and Explorers' and will have a history/geography theme.  We are looking forward to travelling back in time to learn about different explorers and how their ventures developed. Some ended in catastrophe, some ended in disappointment and some made history.

In English, we will we will be looking at flash-forward stories and analysing their structure and tools used. We'll be working towards creating our own flash-forward piece and creating lots of short-burst writes along the way!

In our Science, we'll be learning about rocks and forces. Along the way, we're looking forward to some practical experiments and beginning our own case studies on parts of the world.

In Religious Education, our topic this term is all about Islam. Towards the end of this term, we'll be having an Islam week where we will be diving into everything Islam!

In Physical Education, all children will be swimming on Wednesday afternoons, PaceSetters are again joining us this term (where we'll be playing some tag-rugby!) and we'll be playing some football in general PE slots. Please ensure children have PE kit in school everyday.

As always, if you have any questions or queries about your child’s learning or wellbeing, please pop in and see me.
