Tiffield CLASS 1
A huge welcome to all our class 1 children! I’m sure you all had a fabulous Easter break and are excited to get started on our new learning this term.
Our topic this term is called ‘London's Burning'. We will be looking into the events in Pudding Lane and the children will learn how the fire service has changed since 1666 and what events led to the great fire. They will also have the opportunity the develop their baking skills, design and build their own fire engine and learn about and build famous London landmarks.
In English, we will continue to focus on basic grammar and sentence structure. We will also look at expanded noun phrases, exclamation, question sentences and the use of commas. Our units this term will include a warning tale (Little Red Riding Hood), writing a persuasive poster and a tale of rags to riches.
In RE we will be exploring people's beliefs and taking part in Collective Worship.
We are always looking for parents (or Grandparents) to come in and help, so if you think you would like to spend a bit of time in the classroom with our wonderful children, please let me know. We would love help with sewing, model building, listening to readers, the list is endless!
Please also check out Class Dojo, as we will be using this to send you snap shots of what we've been up to in class.
If you have any questions or queries about your child’s learning, please do not hesitate to pop in and see me. My door is always open.
